Khaleda Zia returned home a defeated soldier

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan has compared BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s return to her home with that of a defeated soldier.

“She returned home like a defeated soldier after killing people on the pretext of a movement by staying at her office for three months,” he told a rally in Dhaka on Sunday.

“This is the first victory in our brave fight,” he added. Sramik-Karmachari-Peshajibi-Muktijoddha Samannay Parishad organised the rally on Manik Mia Avenue.

The minister had been leading programmes of the organisation in protest against the BNP-led coalition’s blockade. The programmes included laying siege to Khaleda’s office. Sunday’s rally before a march was a part of the programmes.

“Our movement will continue until the terror acts stopped,” the minister said. He criticised Khaleda for going to court riding a car during the transport blockade she called.

“She herself violated the blockade by going to the court with a motorcade,” Khan said. Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu was also present at the rally.

He demanded the government take steps to try Khaleda for violence during the blockade and shutdowns. The members of the organisation marched to Suhrawardy Udyan after the rally.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozzamel Huq said, “Khaleda Zia has faced moral defeat in the movement.”
