Hand over Concord building to orphanage: Appellate Division

The appellate division has upheld an order passed by the High Court, asking Concord Group to handover an 18-storey complex in capital's Azimpur to Sir Salimullah Muslim Orphanage. A three-member appellate division bench led by Chief Justice Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order on Monday morning. Advocate Manzill Murshed argued for the writ petitioner while Advocate AY Mashiuzzaman and Barrister Anik R Haque moved for Salimullah Muslim Orphanage and Attorney General Mahbubey Alam stood for the state. Barrister Anik R Haque told risingbd.com that the authority has to hand over the building as soon as possible as following the dismissal of the leave to appeal. Earlier on September 17, 2015, the High Court declared the construction of the building on the land of the orphanage illegal and asked the developer company to handover the building to the land owner.
