Deep depression over Bay, rain in Ctg

As a well-marked low depression has formed in the Bay of Bengal and is getting intensified, the costal parts including Chattrogram region begin to get affected by rain. As the depression over the Bay of Bengal moves westward, it may approach the east coast of India on Wednesday and may intensify into a deep depression. Increased heavy rainfall of nearly 150mm is forecast across West Bengal and Odisha from Wednesday night through to Thursday. The deep depression over West-Central Bay and adjoining East-central bay moved West-Northwestwards further over the same area (lat. L5.0on, long. 87.2"8) and was centered at 6 am on Tuesday about 950 km southwest of Chattogram port, 890 km Southwest of ***'s Bazar port, 870 km South-Southwest of Mongla port and 850 km south-southwest of Payra port. It is likely to intensify further and move in a North/Northwesterly direction, said a Met office bulletin. Maximum sustained wind speed within 48 km of the deep depression centre is about 50 kph rising to 60 kph in gusts/squalls, it said. Sea will remain rough near the deep depression centre. All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bbay and deep sea have been advised to take shelter immediately and remain in shelter till further notice.
